Lenzing – Lenzing’s flagship textile brand, TENCEL™ and Supriya Lele, the designer behind the acclaimed eponymous London based label revealed the first creative collaboration for Spring / Summer 2024 during London Fashion Week, with three key looks developed and constructed using fabrics made from TENCEL™️ LUXE, a botanic, biodegradable filament solution and worn by quintessential millennial muse, Mia Regan.

Staging her first stand alone runway in a car park deep inside the belly of The City of London’s brutalist masterpiece - The Barbican Centre, Supriya Lele debuted the partnership as part of TENCEL™️’s commitment to celebrate the next generation of design talent embracing sustainable materials and environmentally conscious practices.

Supriya Lele explains:

"It is a true pleasure to collaborate closely with a company that respects my artistic vision and shares my values. TENCEL™️ is a pioneer in their field and I am so happy to be a part of their story and to encourage more sustainable solutions.”

Looks that featured the TENCEL™️ LUXE botanic, biodegradable filaments included vibrant silhouettes of daringly draped, twisted body celebrating dresses and utilitarian tank tops that beckon toward quotidian Indian life, cropped and contorted to sensually accentuate the curves of the body, whilst a translucent body suit celebrated physicality. The inspiration referenced the designers memories of the saris’ worn by the women in her family.

Like everything that comes out of Lele’s atelier, color and textures touch on sentimental moments from the designer’s life, the lilac alluding to a lipstick worn by artist Jai Chuhan at the opening of her exhibition at Qrystal Partners.

Mia has a unique Gen-Z approach to fashion and beauty and uses her platform as an escapist hub for young creatives like herself. Sustainably conscious, she is a pioneer when it comes to all things up-cycling, styling and independent brand sourcing, which made her the perfect muse for Supriya's new collection.

Supriya Lele on dressing Mia Regan:

It is amazing to see the collection that we have been spending months creating come alive, but it is even better to see it styled by an individual. I admire the youthful and playful spirit that Mia Regan embodies and it’s wonderful to see her in a Supriya Lele dress which incorporates the sustainable filament, TENCEL™️ LUXE.

Of the partnership, Eva McGeorge Head of Marketing & Communication Europe / Americas / Turkey TENCEL™ explained;

“It’s such an honor to collaborate with Supriya Lele, TENCEL™ continues to offer support to the next generation of design talent, working closely with like-minded creatives, designers and brands to encourage the adoption of eco-friendly materials and inspire positive change within the fashion industry”.

Lele’s work negotiates the realities and fantasies that arise from being a British woman born to parents who emigrated from India to the UK in the 1980s. While these identities structure the foundation of her practice, Lele is in no way bound by their materiality. When a fabric, a drape, or an emblem references Indian culture or a British punk trend, it naturally dissolves into the larger garment. Lele does not rely on nostalgia. Rather, she has created her own unique aesthetic and world. One that embraces the abstruse spaces between real-life encounters and the fantasies that layer contemporary experiences.
