Indian Tea Brand VAHDAM® Raises $23 Million In Series D Funding

VAHDAM® India, a digitally native wellness brand that has brought India's finest teas, spices & superfoods to UK, US, Canadian, European and more markets, has raised US $23 Million in its Series D Round. Following this round of investment, the total funding raised by the company to date is over US $39 Million.

The amount raised will be utilised to expand the company’s distribution both online and offline, enter new geographies, and foray into new complimentary categories. The company is working on a vision to take native Indian products to global markets, with a focus on the wellness category.

VAHDAM® India witnessed strong growth, closing FY20-21 with a net revenue of US $21.5 Mn (up from US$ 10.71 Million in FY20), while registering a 110% YoY growth, and achieving net profitability. The company is now targeting US$ 71 Million revenue in the next three years.

VAHDAM® India was founded in 2015, by then 23-year old Bala Sarda (Forbes Asia - 30 Under 30, Entrepreneur India - 35 Under 35, Business World - 40 Under 40), with a mission to build a home-grown Indian brand for the world. The company is executing a unique digital playbook of creating strong & scalable consumer brands globally, with:

  • Direct sourcing from farms and estates across India

  • In-house manufacturing in its 100,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility in NCR

  • Local distribution in key markets

He also added that VAHDAM will focus on strengthening its presence especially in the UK with an omni-channel distribution by entering retail channels and offline stores. It also plans to open a physical office in the UK in the first quarter of the financial year.

VAHDAM® India retails a range of teas and superfoods, with 200 SKUs in its portfolio of products. It is one of the fastest growing brands on Amazon and currently retails in over 1,000 stores in the US including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Berdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Wegmans, Erewhon Market and Sprouts.

With offices in the US & Europe, VAHDAM® India has been endorsed by global icon Oprah Winfrey and has won over 35 awards globally, including the SOFI 2018, 2019 & 2020, Great Taste 2019, 2020 & several other recognitions. VAHDAM® India was also awarded the ‘Global SMB of the Year’ by Jeff Bezos in person during his trip to India last year. It was recently recognised as a ‘Forbes 100 To Watch’ company in Asia.
