Burnout, the quest to have a good night’s sleep and a desire to take a holistic approach to health led former music industry professional Lucy Stride to build her brand The Mindful Muscle, which has launched four blends of CBD oils to help restore balance in body and mind.
The Mindful Muscle started out of a genuine love for natural botanicals, Lucy’s avid interest in plant healing and a desire to raise awareness around mental health.
The four luxurious oils, which can be used as part of a daily wellness ritual, contain 1500mg of broad-spectrum cannabidiol (CBD) from organically grown cannabis plants, blended with organic MCT oil from coconuts.
Every product is handcrafted in the UK in small batches and tested for safety, purity and potency - with full traceability on the CBD extract, right back to the seed each cannabis plant was grown from. They are all vegan and THC, cruelty and gluten-free.
Choose from CBD oils naturally flavoured with botanical plant terpenes; Wild Mint, Blueberry and Lavender, Orange Blossom or Lemon Verbena.
Lucy is hugely passionate about using CBD and botanicals in all aspects of her own wellbeing and describes herself as “beyond excited” to be developing clean, plant-based products to help others on their journey to wellness.
She said: “I named our brand The Mindful Muscle because I felt you can be careful and strong. You can be thoughtful yet powerful. And that's what our products are. That's who we are.
“It is also much more than just a wellness brand to me - this is a love letter to my children; my opportunity to try and support organic and sustainable farming techniques and an opportunity to develop effective formulations that can really make a difference to our customers’ wellbeing. All with a sprinkling of pink and a bit of a wink!”
Lucy’s journey with CBD started about five years ago, suffering from physical and mental burnout, with a husband constantly on tour and two young children in tow, a friend recommended CBD to her. For the first time in years, she found herself getting seven to eight hours a night of good sleep. It was genuinely life-changing. Plant-healing crept into her life from that point on and is now firmly here to stay.
She added: “A holistic approach to wellbeing and beauty is at the core of everything we do at The Mindful Muscle. Encouraging and supporting our community in taking care of their mental health is also an incredibly important part of that approach.”
Mindful that 125 lives are lost every week to suicide, the brand donates five per cent of profits from sale of its CBD oral drops to the charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
About the founder
Lucy Stride has spent her career in the music industry; her first job being a talent escort for MTV Europe when she brought people like Billy Piper packets of crisps while they were in make-up. She later moved to Sony where she worked in international marketing (queue thousands of crazy stories which she would never repeat in public).
Sick of the corporate culture, she set up her own artist management company. This was one of the most rewarding yet exhausting periods of her life, seeing bands she managed, go from back rooms in small pubs to playing huge arenas in the US.
Thanks to marrying Roy from Scouting For Girls, she also managed to bag a lifetime of being asked if ‘She’s So Lovely’ is about her (it’s not, by the way).
She finally closed the door on her career in the music industry in 2018, having achieved everything she’d ever wanted to; walking out with a heavy heart, 20 years of incredible memories and raging insomnia, which led her to discover CBD.
She’d pushed her body too far on a regular basis which along with the late nights, terrible working hours, young children and a husband that constantly tours, led to a physical and mental burnout.
For Lucy, her journey to taking a holistic approach to her health started with good sleep. Plant healing crept into her life from that point on and is now firmly here to stay.
ABOUT CALM
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is taking a stand against suicide. That means standing against feeling rubbish, standing up to stereotypes, and standing together to show life is always worth living.
CALM exists to change this. They do it by provoking conversation, running life-saving services, and bringing people together so they reject living miserably, get help when they need it and don’t die by suicide.
CALM runs a free, confidential and anonymous helpline as well as a webchat service, offering help, advice and information to anyone who is struggling or in crisis.
